The Creative Power of Pure Speech and the Destructiveness of Profanity

Brest State Technical University hosted a roundtable discussion, "The Creative Power of Pure Speech and the Destructiveness of Profanity," dedicated to International Family Day. During the meeting, students, faculty, and guests discussed why a culture of speech is the foundation of a strong family, the harmonious upbringing of children, and healthy relationships in society.

Participating in the discussion were:

  • Archpriest Yevgeny Likhota, Chairman of the Department of Religious Education and Catechesis of the Brest Diocese
  • Priest Pavel Romanovich, Chairman of the Department of Youth Affairs of the Brest Diocese
  • Yevgenia Mikhailovna Morozova, Chair of the Department of Family, Motherhood, and Childhood Protection of the Brest Diocese

Experts noted that the fight against profanity begins with the family. It is within the circle of loved ones that the foundations of a culture of communication, respect for elders, and responsibility for one's words are laid.

During the lively dialogue, the participants agreed: words have tremendous power. Creative, clear speech fosters trust, mutual understanding, and respect between loved ones. Conversely, foul language destroys harmony, undermines the authority of adults in the eyes of children, and fosters negative behavior patterns.

Particular attention was paid to examples from life and spiritual traditions. Invited guests shared their experiences and observations. They emphasized that in the Orthodox tradition, words have always been considered a reflection of a person's inner world. Purity of speech is not only an indicator of upbringing but also a guarantee of mental health and strong family ties.

"Clean speech is the key to a happy life!"—this was the motto of the meeting, leaving all participants with a desire to change for the better

May only kind and creative words resound in every home!
