Is it possible to provide a foreign student with a place in a university hostel?

Foreign students are provided with a place in a student hostel (a room for 2-3 people). Payment for accommodation in a hostel is set in accordance with the order of the Rector of BrSTU and amounts to 40 US dollars per month at the rate of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus on the day of payment.

What should I do if I would like to study at the university, but I do not know Russian?

An applicant, whose knowledge of the Russian language is not enough for studying, can be enrolled in preparatory courses, where the Russian language and other subjects are studied, depending on the chosen specialty.

Foreign citizens who have completed the full course of study at the pre-university training department (Preparatory Department), have successfully passed the final exams, have a certificate of completion of the full study course at the Preparatory Department, are enrolled in the university without an interview.

If the applicant has not mastered the Russian language and has not passed the final exams at the Preparatory Department, he/she can repeat the study course at the Preparatory Department.

What documents are submitted by a citizen of a foreign state for consideration by the Admissions Committee upon arrival in the Republic of Belarus?
  • application form of a standard type for admission to instruction;
  • original documents on education indicating the subjects studied and the grades (points) obtained at the exams;
  • the original health status report, confirming that the foreign citizen is able to study in the climatic conditions of the Republic of Belarus, certified by the public health authorities of the country sending the candidate to study;
  • medical certificate stating the HIV-negative status of the applicant, issued by the public health authority of the country of arrival of the candidate for study;
  • duly certified copy of the birth certificate;
  • 8 photos sized 3x4 cm.

The listed documents, issued in a foreign language, are simultaneously provided with the notarized translation into Belarusian or Russian.

A passport with a visa to enter the Republic of Belarus is presented by a foreign citizen in person.

What documents serve as the basis for receiving an invitation to study?
  • a notarized copy of the document on education indicating the subjects studied and the grades (points) obtained at the exams;
  • a copy of the pages of the national (or international) passport with a photograph and surname;
  • a notarized copy of the birth certificate;
  • a copy of the health status report, confirming that the foreign citizen is able to study in the climatic conditions of the Republic of Belarus, certified by the public health authorities of the country sending the candidate to study;
  • a copy of a medical certificate stating the HIV-negative status of the applicant;
  • the application form of a foreign citizen can be filled in Russian or English.

Please note that copies of documents must be translated into Russian and sealed by a notary.

What is the procedure for obtaining an entry visa?
  1. An applicant submits to the university a package of documents required to receive an invitation.
  2. After reviewing the documents, the university makes a decision on issuing an invitation to study. The invitation is sent for approval to the citizenship and migration authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. In case of positive decision on the documents, the university sends an agreed invitation to study to the consular office of the Republic of Belarus in the applicant's country of residence or to the consular office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus at the National Airport "Minsk".
  3. All visa issues are specified at the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the applicant's country of residence.
What is the cost of living in the Republic of Belarus?

The average cost of living in Brest is 300-400 US dollars per month.

What are the tuition fees at a university?

At the Preparatory Department, the tuition fee is:

  • for foreign citizens who arrived on an individual basis - 1600 US dollars per year.

At the main faculties, the tuition fees for foreign students who arrived individually is:

  • intramural study (teaching in Russian) - 2600 US dollars per year;
  • intramural study (teaching in English) - 3500 US dollars per year for 1st year students;
  • at the Correspondence Department - 2000 US dollars per year;
  • in the Master's program - 3000 US dollars per year, when studying in English - 3700 US dollars per year.

ATTENTION: payment for tuition is made on the territory of the Republic of Belarus in Belarusian rubles at the rate of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus on the day of payment; when paying from abroad, payment is made in US dollars.

What is the financial responsibility of an international student in case of deportation?

Financial responsibility involves the coverage of penalties, the cost of a flight from Belarus to the foreign student`s country of residence and the cost of keeping a foreigner in places determined by the appropriate authorities.

What is the form of the medical report provided by a foreign applicant for consideration by the Admissions Committee?

A foreign citizen entering the university submits a health certificate issued by the public health authority of the candidate`s host country, confirming the absence of contraindications for study in the climatic conditions of the Republic of Belarus.

Foreign citizens arriving to study undergo a mandatory medical examination at a medical institution at the place of study to confirm the absence of contraindications for study in the climatic conditions of the Republic of Belarus.

If a discrepancy between the medical report obtained outside the Republic of Belarus and the results of the examination in the Republic is found, the candidate for study is obliged to leave the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

Additionally, a certificate stating the HIV-negative status of the applicant is provided, issued by the public health authority of the candidate`s country of arrival.

When do classes start at the Preparatory Department (department of pre-university training)?

As a rule, classes at the Preparatory Department start on October 1 or just as groups are formed and completed.

Responsibilities of international students:

- comply with the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, the legislation of the Republic of Belarus, the internal regulations of the university;
- follow the instructions of the university management;
- acquire knowledge and skills in the chosen specialty;
- to attend curricular training sessions, to carry out all types of academic work included in the curriculum and programs within the established deadlines, to pass exams and tests in due time;
- when leaving the Republic of Belarus, obtain the appropriate permission from the university administration and execute documents in the prescribed manner;
- timely and in full place the tuition fees onto the account of the university according to the training agreements.

Foreign citizens who ignore duties are expelled from the university and must leave the territory of the Republic of Belarus within a month.

Foreign students who have committed criminal or administrative offenses on the territory of the Republic of Belarus are liable for their actions in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.

Is there an interview for foreign citizens entering the main faculties and the Department of extramural study of the university?

Upon admission to the 1st course with teaching in Russian language, a foreign citizen undergoes an interview in Russian, upon admission to the 1st course with teaching in English language - an interview in English.

Upon admission to the Master`s program, an additional interview is held in the academic disciplines of the specialization.

Deadlines for submitting documents.

Deadline for submitting documents to receive an invitation to study:

  • until September 15 for the main faculties
  • no time limit for the Preparatory Department

The official deadline for submitting documents to the Admissions Committee for foreign citizens based on the results of an interview in Russian (in the case of studying in English - an interview in English) is October 15 (annually).

The deadline for submitting documents to the Admissions Committee can be extended until November 30.

Documents submitted in a foreign language must be accompanied by an officially certified translation into Russian or Belarusian.

Are there age restrictions for foreign applicants?

For admission to the Brest State Technical University, the age of the applicant must not exceed 35 years.

Are there requirements for sending documents?

On the package of documents there should be a mark “Application for Study”.
Documents must be sent by mail.
Documents sent by fax or E-mail are accepted only at the preliminary evaluation stage.

To avoid damage or loss of your documents during processing, please provide them in a transparent perforated file folder.
