October 13, 2026 - A new phase of academic cooperation between universities of the Union State has kicked off in Brest. Today, a delegation of students from the National Research Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (NRU MGSU) arrived at Brest State Technical University (BrSTU).
The visit is taking place as part of a program for student educational and scientific visits between universities in Russia and Belarus. Aimed at fostering youth cooperation and the exchange of advanced engineering expertise, the project is supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, and the "Studturizm.rf" digital platform. Pskov State University serves as the program operator, coordinating dozens of leading technical universities from both countries.
For the MGSU students, the visit to BrSTU offers an opportunity not only to explore the Belarusian university's infrastructure but also to immerse themselves in the region's culture.
The first day of the visit was dedicated to experiencing the unique spirit of Brest.
Behind the Scenes at the Brest Academic Drama Theater
The cultural program began with a backstage tour of the Brest Academic Drama Theater. Students examined the stage layout, scenery-lifting mechanisms, and the auditorium's acoustics. For students in relevant fields, this was a unique opportunity to see how complex engineering solutions serve the art world.
Walking Tour of Brest’s Historic Center
The guests strolled through the streets of historic Brest, where they admired the harmonious architecture dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Magic on Sovetskaya Street
The evening concluded on a high note with a visit to witness the traditional lighting of vintage kerosene street lamps by the lamplighter. This unique, warm, and welcoming ritual became a symbol of Brest’s hospitality and a wonderful conclusion to the first day of the visit.
A packed schedule lies ahead for the NRU MGSU delegation, including a visit to the Brest Hero-Fortress Memorial Complex, an excursion to Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park, and a tour of the research laboratories at BrSTU.
Stay tuned for updates.
