On September 19, Brest State Technical University held the grand opening of its new Digital Engine Engineering Laboratory, in order to implement the concept for the development of engineering education approved by Resolution No. 264 of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated May 15, 2025. The laboratory, initiated and supported by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Industry, is part of the Industrial Robotics and Digital Engineering Competence Center.
Created jointly with Minsk Motor Plant Holding Management Company, the laboratory is equipped with the latest software developed by the company's specialists, as well as modern equipment, allowing future engineers to thoroughly study the designs of modern diesel engines and their components using digital modeling technologies.
The laboratory opening took place in a festive atmosphere: the ribbon was symbolically cut by University Rector Sergei Antonovich Kasperovich, along with Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Petr Aleksandrovich Parkhomchik, Minister of Industry of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Evgenievich Kuznetsov, and General Director of OJSC "MMZ UKH" Alexander Miroslavovich Botvinnik. Other distinguished guests representing the republican and regional governments also attended the event.
In the laboratory, future engineers will be able to work with digital twins of modern engines and their systems, using innovative software from the Minsk Motor Plant and modern computer equipment: virtual reality goggles, a multimedia panel, and laptops.
After a virtual introduction to engine design, students will move on to practical training—disassembling, assembling, diagnosing, and repairing a real MMZ-3LD diesel engine, using professional equipment and tools.
Of particular value is the comprehensive interactive technical documentation provided by the company for modern domestic engines manufactured in Belarus.
The new laboratory will take the training of future specialists to a qualitatively new level, making a significant contribution to the development of the mechanical engineering industry in the Brest region and throughout the Republic of Belarus.
