As part of their volunteer efforts, students and staff from the Department of Ideological and Educational Work at Brest State Technical University (BrSTU) visited the Divin Children's Home. The visit was a truly heartwarming and eventful occasion: the team organized a creative workshop titled "A Hearty Feast" for the children and provided support through the "Get a Child Ready for School" campaign.
The program began with an environmental workshop on creating edible bird feeders. Volunteers showed the children how to prepare a nutritious and filling treat for local birds using simple, accessible ingredients: seeds, grains, and gelatin.
The students demonstrated how to properly mix the grain-based ingredients, shape them into balls and figures, and carefully string them onto sturdy cords. The children joined the creative process with great interest and enthusiasm, each striving to make their feeder not only nutritious but also the most beautiful one of all.
The children happily hung their finished "bird treats" on the trees within the children's home grounds. Now, they can watch from the windows as tits and sparrows flock to enjoy the snacks, regardless of the weather.
The second part of the visit focused on the traditional "Get a Child Ready for School" charity campaign. BrSTU students brought along essential school supply kits for the pupils.
The children received a variety of stationery items, including notebooks, sketchbooks, colored paper, pens, pencils, and pencil cases. This assistance was especially valuable for children about to enter the first grade, for whom the new school year is a major and exciting milestone. Now, every child has their own complete set of supplies for their studies and creative activities.
The visit concluded with heartwarming interaction, games, and high spirits. The university volunteers are convinced that such gatherings should become a cherished tradition, as they show the children they are cared for and remembered.
