Issues of competition and antimonopoly regulation were discussed in the Brest Regional Executive Committee with representatives of the EEC

Modern trends in competition law and enforcement in the Eurasian Economic Union were discussed on March 25 in the Brest Regional Executive Committee by the Minister for Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation of the EEC Maxim Leonidovich Ermolovich, the Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Republic of Belarus Alexey Igorevich Bogdanov with the participation of officials and experts of the parties.
Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Yuri Vitoldovich Shuleiko addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He emphasized the importance of developing cooperation between the Eurasian “five” and third countries and strengthening the position of the EAEU in the international arena.
Maxim Leonidovich Ermolovich presented the activities of the Public Reception Unit for Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation of the EAC on issues of competition and public procurement. Particular attention was paid to the problems of ensuring equal conditions of competition in markets, as well as eliminating barriers that dominates create for entry into this market. In his speech Ermolovich M.L. noted the positive contribution of Brest State Technical University to the work of the JAC in terms of training specialists in economics, providing students with the opportunity to meet with the best experts in the field of competition, gain experience, and borrow the best practices of antimonopoly regulation in the formation of competition policy. Among the participants in this event were students and teachers of the Faculty of Economics of BrSTU, headed by Dean Zazerskaya V.V., members of the student construction team “Spadchyna” named after the Hero of the Soviet Union P.M. Masherov.
The meeting participants exchanged views and experiences regarding enforcement mechanisms that have been developed and used by national competition authorities to effectively solve these problems, current issues in the field of competition, and methods for assessing the state of competition in product markets. They also discussed the problems of regulating competition in the cross-border markets of the EAEU, including the regulation of public procurement in the EAEU. At the end of the meeting, representatives of Belarusian enterprises received answers to pressing questions on antimonopoly regulation, government procurement, and unfair competition.
